Help Raise Awareness for National Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize that we each play a part in promoting the social and emotional well-being of children and families in communities. For ideas and resources on how to promote child well-being throughout the month of April, visit the National Child Abuse Prevention Month website.
In addition to hosting the 2013 resource guide Preventing Child Maltreatment and Promoting Well-Being: A Network for Action, which includes 14 tip sheets for parents, the National Child Abuse Prevention Month website also includes the following:
- Information on the six protective factors that, when present in families and communities, increase the health and well-being of children and families
- Tip sheets for parents and caregivers on topics such as "10 Ways to Be a Better Dad,” "Connecting With Your Teen," and "Dealing With Temper Tantrums"
- Videos of public service announcements from state and national organizations
- An overview of the history behind National Child Abuse Prevention Month
