Nominations Sought for Angels in Adoption

Do you know an individual, couple, or organization from your State or Congressional District who has made an extraordinary contribution on behalf of children in foster care? Nominate them as an Angel in Adoption™! Nominations have to be received through your member of Congress by July 6.

What is Angels in Adoption™?

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute's (CCAI) Angels in Adoption™ program provides a way for members of Congress to honor foster parents, adoptive parents, social workers, adoption advocates, and foster care organizations from their State or district that has made a difference in the lives of children in need of a family to call their own. Since 1999, more than 1,800 individuals, families, and organizations have been honored through this program.

Every fall, these Angels come from all over the U.S. to visit the nation’s capital and their member of Congress, learn about their advocacy capabilities, and share their experiences with adoption. The program culminates with a gala on September 12 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C., where the Angels who have raised awareness about foster care and adoption on a national or global level are honored.

How to Nominate an Angel in Adoption™

To suggest someone be honored as an "Angel", you can:

  1. Contact the Congressional office directly.  Use this nomination letter (DOCX -  29KB) and submit it to your nominee's Members of Congress.  Locate the Congressional office of your nominee.
  2. Complete the online nomination form and CCAI will forward your nomination to the appropriate Congressional Office.

All nominations must be received by July 6th!

IMPORTANT: The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute does not select and does not endorse any nominated Angel in Adoption™, nor does a nomination mean that an individual will ultimately be selected. Members can receive hundreds of nominations in one year. The institute sends all submitted nominations to the appropriate members of Congress and the members of Congress are then given the opportunity to select their Angel in Adoption™.
