English Public Narrative
Here’s Kodi! Kodi was born on Halloween in 1993. She is a bit of a tomboy for a girl of 15 and she has a very engaging smile. Kodi is truly a neat kid, once you get past her protective shell. Despite the fact that Kodi has experienced numerous disappointments and a life filled with turmoil, she does very well one on one. Kodi thrives on having structure and guidelines and even admits this herself!
Kodi performs well academically when she applies herself. She does have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to assist her in academic success. She loves music and is learning to play her guitar. She is artistic and adventurous. She writes in her journal, listens to music or draws when she needs quiet time to compose herself. Kodi does get vocal at times when angry. However, she is working on her anger, grief and loss issues and is learning to trust. Kodi is afraid to trust, especially adults. She has survived major losses in her short lifetime. She continues to need regular therapy to help her address these needs.
Despite the fact that Kodi is usually quiet and keeps to herself a great deal, she is considered a loyal friend. She has a great big heart and wears her feelings on her sleeve. Kodi loves stories about dragons and collects wolves. Kodi is creative and likes to explore funky hairdos and style of dress. Kodi also likes horses, dogs and cats (any animals really), art, music, and especially her electric guitar. In fact, Kodi hopes to be a musician one day or maybe a veterinarian or tattoo artist. Kodi admits she has still not decided! Kodi knows she wants to get a job and finish school.
Kodi has experienced multiple placements since entering care for the first time, reportedly at age 3 or 4. Unfortunately she has been in foster care in the past in other states before MT. She is longing for a family to call her own. Kodi also wants to keep connections with her siblings and grandparents as a sense of belonging and history is very important to Kodi.
Although Kodi likes young children, she would do well in a family where there are no children around her age and where she is the main focus.
