About the Siblings
Nasira would like families to know how proud she is of herself and her sister and how far they have come. She is an insightful young lady who loves to tell and laugh at jokes. Nasira is outgoing and loves to play any of the "Just Dance" video games. She has developed an interest in learning about science as she hopes to pursue medical school and become a doctor in the Navy. Nasira loves to watch TV, hang out with friends, dance and be with her sister on the weekends. She likes to play basketball and her favorite food is shrimp fried rice. Nasira would like to travel to England and visit Europe. She is interested in Anne Frank and would like to learn more about the Holocaust and World War II. Nasira noted that she likes all holidays, but her absolute favorite is Christmas.
Markala wants others to know, “I love to sleep!” She is a smart young girl who likes to be active. Markala participates in many activities, such as, cheerleading, dance and track. When she grows up, she would like to be a professional dancer or chef. Markala’s favorite food is hot wings and is hopeful to attend culinary school. In her free time, she likes to go to the movies, shop at the mall and hang out with friends. Markala can be silly and loves to joke around with others. If she could visit anywhere on Earth, she would like to go to Miami because it has been her dream to go there. Markala notes that she has a quirky personality.
Nasira and Markala have overcome many disappointments in their life. Nasira has some medical issues that will need to monitored and followed up to ensure she receives the appropriate care needed. She is working on developing positive coping skills to utilize when she becomes upset. Nasira has shown progress in this area, but will benefit from continued guidance in this area. Markala is working with assistance to address her emotions regarding her past. Like her sister, she is also working on building positive outlets for her to express herself through when she becomes frustrated.
Nasira says, “If I had any wish I would want my sister and I to be with a great family that will love and care for us.” She added, “I would like a forever family that likes to take a lot of pictures together and do family stuff.” Markala would like to have a family that likes to play games together. It will be important for the girls to have an adoptive family that will show them love, patience and encouragement. The family must work with the girls to help them process and move forward from their past and assist them in reaching their life goals. Both girls will need family who will continue their support services and be strong advocates for their needs. It is important to Nasira and Markala that they are adopted together.
