About Nyomi
Nyomi is a five-year-old African American girl who came into the care of the Department after the tragic death of her mother. Nyomi was born following her mother’s death and required an extended hospitalization for several months before she was medically stable and ready to be discharged.
Despite the significant challenges she has experienced early in her life, Nyomi has continued to make meaningful progress throughout the year. She has demonstrated growth in her physical development and has accomplished milestones that were once significant challenges for her. Nyomi has learned to crawl and is now able to pull herself into a standing position and remain standing independently for several seconds at a time.
Nyomi continues to demonstrate determination and resilience. She is making progress at her own pace and continues to surprise those around her with the skills she is developing. Her accomplishments throughout the year are a testament to her continued growth and the support she has received. Nyomi continues to work toward reaching additional developmental milestones, and the Department is encouraged by the progress she has made.
