About Jonathan
Jonathan, affectionately known as Jo, is an active and engaging 9-year-old who will turn 10 in December. More than anything, Jo genuinely wants what every child deserves, a family he can call his own, a place where he feels loved, supported, heard, and truly belongs.
Jo may be small for his age, but don't let his size fool you—he has plenty of energy and enthusiasm! He absolutely loves sports and has already accomplished quite a bit. Jo has received awards in both swimming and soccer and has also participated in ice hockey, flag football, and karate. He enjoys being active and trying new things.
When Jo isn't playing sports, he has many other interests. He enjoys reading, building things, watching sports, riding his bike, and playing chess. He is a curious young man who enjoys activities that allow him to learn, create, think, and stay engaged.
Jo has been successful academically and continues to make progress. Although he could use some additional support with language arts, he does well overall. For the past two years, Jo has been supported through a 504 Plan, after previously having an IEP. His teachers consistently have positive things to share about him during parent-teacher conferences.
Jo has demonstrated that when he has the right support and encouragement around him, he is capable of being successful both in school and in his relationships with others.
Jo does best when he feels heard, understood, and supported. When he receives positive attention and has adults who are able to provide consistent guidance, his behavioral concerns are minimal to nonexistent.
Jo thrives in an environment where he does not have to compete with younger children for adult attention. For this reason, we believe he would do best in a home with no children or with older children who can allow him to have the individual attention and connection he needs.
Jo needs parents who are firm, patient, consistent, and loving. He benefits from clear expectations and boundaries, while also needing adults who will take the time to listen to him, encourage him, celebrate his accomplishments, and help him work through challenges.
At the heart of Jo's story is a young boy who wants to belong. He wants a family that will see beyond his challenges and recognize the many wonderful qualities he brings. He has so much energy, curiosity, determination, and potential to offer.
Jo's paternal great-aunts have remained an important part of his life. Although they live out of town, they make the effort to visit him several times a year and maintain contact with him through phone conversations. These relationships are meaningful to Jo and are important connections that should continue as he transitions into his forever family.
Jo is not simply looking for a house, he is looking for a home and a family where he can belong.
He needs adults who will make room for him in their hearts and their lives, provide structure and consistency, encourage his interests, celebrate his successes, and remain committed to him through both the good days and the difficult ones.
Jo has so much to offer the right family. With the love, stability, attention, and support he needs, we believe Jo can continue to grow into a confident, successful, and happy young man.
Jo is waiting for someone to see his potential, believe in him, and give him the forever family he so genuinely wants.
