About Laemont
If you want to see Laemont light up, ask him about the things he enjoys. He can spend an afternoon playing video games, listening to music, racing RC cars, or bringing his action figures into an imaginative adventure of their own. When he’s with friends, he enjoys being active and having fun, whether they are riding bikes, playing basketball or football, pretending, or heading to the gym. Laemont describes himself as funny, cool, grateful, helpful, and nice, and those who know him see those qualities in him, too. He is caring, smart, energetic, and motivated, with a playful personality that makes him eager to connect with the people around him. At home, he helps by taking out the trash, bringing out linens, and doing laundry.
Laemont has made tremendous progress and continues to show how motivated he is to grow. When he becomes frustrated, he has been doing a great job using his coping skills to work through those feelings. His ability to recognize when he needs to use those skills reflects the determination he brings to his own growth. Laemont also has a strong sense of what makes him happy. He enjoys being outside, going on car rides, listening to music, and spending time with friends. He loves when his friends are being silly and looks forward to special occasions throughout the year, including Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, and Easter. Looking toward the future, Laemont has big goals and plenty of interests he hopes to explore. He would like to become a police chief someday and is interested in trying karate. If he could make three wishes, he would wish to be grateful every day, see his family, and spend time with his brothers and sisters. A trip to Disney World is also high on his wish list so he can see the characters, watch the fireworks, explore the castle, and experience the rides. When Laemont imagines life with his forever family, he hopes for everyday experiences that make a house feel like home, such as helping decorate, shopping, going out to eat, grocery shopping, watching movies, playing with pets, and even making raps together. More than anything, he wants to share those moments with a family while continuing to grow into the person he wants to become.
Laemont would do best with two experienced parents who are patient, trauma-informed, and comfortable using de-escalation and supportive strategies when he needs help navigating difficult moments. He would thrive as the only or youngest child in the home, where he can receive the attention and guidance he needs while continuing to build his independence. It will be especially important for his forever family to support and maintain his relationships with his brothers and sisters. Laemont has worked hard to make immense progress, and he deserves a family who will recognize that progress, encourage his goals, celebrate his personality, and walk alongside him as he continues building a bright future.
