About Mason
Mason is a very caring and empathetic young man. He is known to show concern for others feelings and checks in with people throughout the day. Those that know him best describe him as kind-hearted and sweet. Mason prefers to work independently and is very attentive and motivated. He can be strong willed when his mind is made up. Mason is a very talented artist and is often recognized for his sketches and drawings. He also enjoys listening to music, specifically Blues, Jazz and Hip-Hop. Mason is very active and loves spending time outdoors, especially riding his scooter. In the community, Mason enjoys visiting places like JP Licks and Dave & Busters.
Mason attends a local public middle school where he is doing well with additional supports. He thrives with consistency and routine. He is also developing the appropriate social skills needed to form positive peer relationships. Mason is currently placed with a single mother foster family and has established a close bond with her. His foster mother provides the structure he needs to be successful.
Mason would do well with a family of any constellation with or without other children in the home that is able to provide a nurturing environment. Interested families need to be open to a slow transition process. It is also important that interested families be experienced in the advocacy and management of educational support programs essential to his development. Mason is of African American and Caucasian descent. While a family of any background will be considered, Mason would do well with a family of color or a family who can ensure that he maintains his cultural connections. Mason has in-person visits with his older sister monthly and virtual calls with his mother. It is important that these relationships be maintained. Currently, Mason's social worker is only considering families from Massachusetts. We also encourage families interested in being a visiting connection for him to inquire.
