About Makaila

Makaila has a quiet light that doesn’t demand attention, but once you notice it, it’s impossible to ignore. She moves through life embracing the things that bring her joy and grounding herself in the passions that make her feel alive. Whether it’s the comforting crunch of chicken fingers and fries or the sweet burn of chicken Pad Thai, Makaila knows how to enjoy life's simple pleasures. Unlike her more quiet demeanor, her favorite color is red -- loud, bold and unapologetic. You may see hints of that favorite color show up in her artwork, a form of self-expression she deeply values. Creativity is at the heart of who Makaila is. Whether she’s sketching, building with Legos, or arranging her growing collection of anime figures, her imagination flows with ease. Art isn’t just a school subject for her, it’s a way to process, reflect, and connect with the world around her. After school, she balances her time with intention, diving into her homework, practicing music, and giving herself the space to unwind. She participates in both the Marching Band and Art Club, and always shows up with a quiet, reliable presence that her peers and mentors notice. Weekends offer Makaila a different rhythm, one filled with visits to friends or moments simply enjoying life. She’s someone who finds joy in connection, whether it’s in a deep conversation or sharing a laugh over something small. Holidays like Christmas and Halloween are favorites, not just for the celebration, but because they bring people together and offer moments to exchange gifts, share time, and create memories.

Makaila has a love for Japan inspired by her admiration for the band SHISHAMO and the desire to experience their music live. Music, like art, is part of her identity. It fuels her, comforts her, and drives her forward. “Makaila enjoys art, music, spending time connecting with others, learning Japanese, anime, music/band, and art/drawing,” says an adult close to her. When she thinks about the future, it’s not defined by a specific job title, it’s shaped by the unwavering desire to keep doing what makes her happy and passionate.

Makaila would thrive in a home with a single mom or two moms who are experienced, supportive, and committed to helping her access the services she needs to grow and succeed. She is open to joining a family with or without other children, and what matters most to her is being accepted and loved for exactly who she is. A home with pets would be a perfect fit, as animals bring her joy and comfort. Makaila dreams of a family who will share in the things she loves—shopping trips, travel adventures, and watching favorite shows and concerts together. She is particularly looking forward to decorating her future bedroom! More than anything, Makaila isn’t just searching for a place to stay, she’s searching for a place to truly belong.
