About the Siblings
Nalah and Aria are sweet and fun-loving sisters who enjoy spending time together. They both love to watch movies, especially Dora the Explorer which can be heard being played over and over again daily in the room that they share. Other favorite characters include Disney Princesses, Minions and Paw Patrol. In addition to movies, Nalah loves music. One of her favorite toys is a musical toy, which she shakes close to her ear in order to hear every beat of the music. She is able to enjoy this toy to its fullest by rolling on the floor to the rhythm of its music. Her friends and friendships are very important to her. When she sees a friend approaching, she will hold out open arms and will welcome them with a friendly grabbing gesture.
Aria is described as a "ball of fire" as she is always moving around! She, like Nalah, loves music. She will bounce and rock back and forth when she hears a song. Aria also loves to see her friends and will utter welcoming noises and will also make grabbing movements to get their attention. Although she is almost always in motion, Aria will stop whatever she is doing to have her hair done. She will sit quietly and patiently for as long as it takes. On the other hand, Nalah has no interest in having her hair done and would rather be busy with her friends or playing with her toys. Both sisters use vocal sounds to communicate their needs, excitement and emotions.
Nalah and Aria will thrive with a family who can keep them connected to their culture, act as a strong advocate for their needs and show them the love and care that they deserve. Most any family constellation will be considered for them, with or without other children the home. It is important that their new family has experience with caring for children with medically complex needs or be willing to learn how to care for their daily needs. While Nalah and Aria are looking for a permanent home, their adoption worker also feels they would benefit from a visiting resource and is open to discussing this possibility with anyone who is interested. Currently only homes in the New England states are being considered as an option.
