About Jataria
Jataria is a sweet and polite thirteen-year-old African-American girl who currently has long black braids with some green accent braids. She is in sixth grade and likes going to school. Her favorite subject is math and science, and her least favorite subject is math (Jataria has a love-hate relationship with math!) She likes her teachers but says that her favorite part of the school day is when they get time to play outside. She is quiet at first, but once she gets to know someone, Jataria opens up and starts talking about her life, interests, family, and asking questions. Jataria makes friends fairly easily and she has several friends at her school that she likes to talk to and spend time with at recess. She wears a uniform for school, but she accessorizes to expresses herself through her hair, sneakers, and jewelry. Jataria always wears multiple silver rings and handmade bracelets that she makes with a loom kit. She is also a budding entrepreneur who sells these bracelets at school. Besides being outside and making bracelets, some of Jataria’s favorite pastimes include swimming, movies, reading, and playing on her tablet, as well as creative endeavors such as puzzles, coloring, and painting. She also likes playing basketball, whether it’s in the neighborhood or with her school basketball team. Jataria also likes watching and playing football. Jataria is not a picky eater and especially likes spaghetti and meat sauce. She wants to be a chef when she gets older, and she can already make eggs, bacon, and cookies.
Jataria’s older brother sister are good influences on her, and it is important for anyone that adopts Jataria to allow and encourage contact with them. She would also like to continue phone calls with her grandmother. Jataria does well in homes with other kids of any age, but she also needs one-on-one time with a parent in order to grow into a confident, successful young lady.
