About Michael
Michael “Mikey” Caswell is an energetic 5-year-old boy. He loves to play in water from pools, baths and showers and is always moving. Mikey does not sit for very long. He is very physically active and loves stimming on hard surfaces. If a room has some open space, blankets, and windowsills, Mikey is very happy and content.
His favorite foods are fruit, cheese, scrambled eggs, and meat. Mikey enjoys playing with his food. His former foster parents found seat restraints helpful at mealtime. He has an oral fixation and will attempt to put anything in his mouth. He does attempt to get food from others if he wants it even if he has the same food. He will throw tantrums often over food.
Mikey is very gentle and doesn't fight other children. He is generally pleasant around others. Mikey does well when you hold his hand outside, but he may attempt to run if has the chance.
Since being placed in foster care on May 15, 2023, he has become much more aware of his surroundings and body. He is making frequent eye contact and exploring his environment. Mikey has also become more social, approaching adults to climb and cuddle. He does not engage in play.
Mikey’s biological parents have a significant history of mental health and drug use. Michael’s biological mother passed away in May 2024. His father has had multiple incarcerations and has not been involved. Michael has a 3-year-old sister who resides with his former foster parent.
Michael was in foster care previously from 8/19/22 until 10/6/22. Mikey’s permanency plan is adoption by non-relative.
