About Layla
Everyday is Halloween for Layla because her favorite thing to do after school is watch "The Vampire Diaries." Layla is a superfan of "The Vampire Diaries" so it should come as no surprise that if she could visit any place it would be Georgia (where the show was filmed). If Layla had three wishes they would be: to star in her favorite show, to marry Damon Salvatore - her favorite character from the series, and to maybe even be an immortal creature herself. Are you sensing a theme here? Though if she were a vampire, she would likely miss eating her favorite food: pasta. For now, she'll have to settle into more human ventures like cross country, swimming, wrestling, and reading. When Layla hangs out with friends, she likes to kick back and watch movies while enjoying various snacks. Sometimes, she can even go for an exciting game of "Skip-bo." If there were such thing as a red pig, Layla would be over the moon seeing as her favorite color is red and her favorite animals are pigs. What Layla wants to do most with her forever family is hang out, watch movies, go to dinner, play games, and go on trips. Maybe a trip to Georgia is in store for her future?
An adult close to her says, "Layla is overall a great kid. She is very smart, kind, and funny. Layla likes to draw, listen to music and read books." Doesn't she sound like an awesome youth? Layla hopes to be a social worker when she grows up; an ambition that shows what a giving and empathetic person she is. When asked what she wants potential families to know about her, Layla stated "I am smart," and she has the good grades in school to prove it! That brain power will help her on her way to becoming a social worker one day.
Layla will need a family who is patient as she is still adjusting to her adoption plan. When asked what type of family she would benefit from, an adult who knows her well listed the following family traits: consistent, encouraging, understanding, patient, and able to hold Layla accountable when needed. She would do well with a female parent or two but would need to be the youngest or only child in the home. Layla would benefit from trauma-informed parents who will love and support her unconditionally.
