About A'Kya
A’Kya has plenty of dreams to fulfill in the lifetime ahead of her. For one, she doesn’t have any singular dream destination. If she could visit anywhere, that’s exactly what she’d do … go anywhere. “I would like to travel and see the world,” A’Kya says. She’s open-ended on her dream career as well and says that she’s not sure what she wants to do. However, cosmetology seems a natural fit because A’Kya likes doing hair, makeup and nails. Perhaps she’ll use her creativity in another way by becoming an artist since A’Kya likes coloring, drawing and making bracelets, or maybe she’ll be a lab technician because science is her favorite subject in school. Regardless of her career choice, it’s fairly certain A’Kya will have fun as an adult because she’s doing so now. She’s an active and athletic girl who enjoys participating in volleyball and basketball. After school, A’Kya likes spending time with her friends, and on the weekends, she enjoys shopping, going to the movies and playing video games with her pals. When asked her choice of favorite things, A’Kya picks dogs and bunnies for animals and red, black and blue for colors. She has a bucket list of favorite foods including nachos, chili, broccoli, carrots, hot chips and a variety of candy bars that would make many kids’ dreams come true. In A’Kya’s dreams, she’s opening presents and doing fun activities while celebrating her birthday. A’Kya’s future dreams include becoming part of a forever family and playing games, going on vacations and simply having fun together.
According to one of the adults who cares about her most, “A’Kya is a funny, creative, friendly and outspoken girl who advocates for herself. A’kya has displayed resilience despite her past trauma. She has a big heart and cares about those around her.”
Her new parent or parents should be experienced and trauma informed, and they must be strong advocates for any services A’Kya needs to thrive. A’Kya prefers a family who has dogs in her new home. Her parent or parents should be patient, consistent and able to provide a structured home.
