About Darnell
If he hears of an approaching a polar vortex, Darnell just might request high-fives from those around him. After all, his dream destination is Alaska because – as he says – “it’s cold, and I like being cold.” Even in blizzard conditions, you won’t find Darnell hibernating, except maybe on weekend mornings when he enjoys sleeping in. In cold or warm weather, you usually can find Darnell chilling with his friends and listening to some tunes with them. He and his friends heat things up by exercising and playing football together. Despite his cool climate inclinations, Darnell picks red instead of blue as his favorite hue, chicken instead of ice cream as his favorite food and dogs instead of penguins as his favorite animals. His current career choice is becoming a welder instead of a polar scientist. In addition to football, Darnell loves other sports as well as playing action video games. He likes all holidays and enjoys a family’s companionship during those special times. When he’s asked what he takes the most pride in, Darnell says maintaining his cool as well as being good at sports. He plays it cool, too, when he talks about a forever family and the types of things he’d like to do with them. Whether it’s heated or frigid, blazing or freezing outside, Darnell hopes his new family will enjoy doing fun activities together such as going to an amusement park or just chilling indoors at home.
“Darnell is a wonderful kid, and with the right role models, he can be very successful,” says one of his close adults. “He is goal-orientated, works hard at achieving his goals and would like a family who is able to help him achieve them. Darnell is shy around people he does not know, but he is very talkative when he is around people he is comfortable with.”
Darnell needs a family who’ll be fierce advocates for any services that will help him flourish. His family should be open to and supportive of Darnell’s hobbies, interests and potential involvement in sports. He would do best with a single female parent or a mom and dad who are experienced and trauma trained. Darnell can be placed in a home with or without children and pets.
