About Rayshawn
Rayshawn has a special relationship of the virtual kind. He likes talking to Amazon’s Alexa because the virtual voice assistant cracks him up. Rayshawn’s smiles and giggles continue when someone shares a joke with him. Traveling to Great Wolf Lodge could bring even more grins to Rayshawn. Swimming, splashing and sliding in the resort’s indoor waterpark would be one of Rayshawn’s biggest dreams come true. He also wishes for a million dollars, a truck and a motorcycle. This happy-go-lucky lad has plenty of activities that brighten his day. “Rayshawn likes going to trampoline parks, listening and jamming out to Taylor Swift songs, giving hugs and drinking milkshakes,” says one of his adult advocates. He enjoys going for walks and spending time with pets. Rayshawn’s favorite animals are rabbits, his favorite color is red and his favorite food is pizza, but hold the mushrooms, please! Rayshawn likes participating in gym class at school, playing games afterwards and watching movies on the weekends. His favorite holidays are Christmas and Halloween, and he loves getting presents and candy. When he gets older, Rayshawn wants to become a police officer, and when he’s asked the most important thing he wants others to know about him, Rayshawn says, “I’m smart.” He’s a planner, too, because he’s got a list of things he’d like to do with his new family including shopping and going to water, trampoline and amusement parks.
“Rayshawn has a good personality and smile,” says one of the adults who knows him best. “Rayshawn loves attention and soaks it up. Rayshawn would describe himself as having a good sense of humor. He’d say he’s generally happy and has a good attitude.”
Rayshawn would do well with one or two parents who are patient, understanding, experienced and trauma trained. He would do best in a family who can provide stability, structure and consistency. His new parent or parents must make sure Rayshawn receives the services he needs to function at his best. They also need to be open to letting Rayshawn maintain his sibling relationship. Since he enjoys spending time with critters, he’d love to have a family who has pets. "Rayshawn loves being around animals," adds an adult close to him. “Rayshawn likes talking to others, he enjoys shopping and would like to live in an area with a diverse population and a lot of stores."
