About Lukas
Lukas has a way of putting his whole heart into the things he cares about whether that’s building a collection of Pokemon cards, keeping his Lion King stuffed animal close, or running outside to kick around a soccer ball. He feels most like himself when he has space to move and explore, and when he can be part of a team—even if that just means playing with a friend in the yard. His future plans include becoming a construction worker one day. For now, Lukas is proud of the progress he’s making in school, especially in math and science, which he names as his favorite subjects. School is a place where he feels successful, and his teachers see how hard he works to keep his good grades. When class is done for the day, he likes to spend time outside, play video games, or watch The Lion King, a story he never gets tired of revisiting. Lukas is thoughtful in ways that stand out. An adult close to him says, “Lukas is very helpful anytime you’re doing outside work. He loves to help out and does a very good job. Anytime someone new or hasn’t been around before, Lukas will ask them if he can help them out.” He also worries about how others are feeling and shows care for his siblings, even when he struggles to find the right words or actions. Lukas has energy to spare and benefits from adults who help him slow down when necessary.
Lukas thrives with clear expectations and plenty of one-on-one attention from patient and empathetic adults. He likes knowing he’s being listened to, and he appreciates it when people take the time to explain things more than once if needed. With this kind of support, he’s able to show how kind and helpful he can be. Holidays are some of his favorite times of the year. On Halloween, he looks forward to dressing up and meeting new friends while collecting candy. At Christmas, he enjoys the simple happiness of sharing a meal and taking a break from school. If he had three wishes, Lukas would choose to be rich, to be good, and to have better control over his feelings. He wants people to know that he’s trying and that he is aware of what he needs help with.
Lukas hopes for a family who will go to fun places together and spend real time connecting. He would thrive in a home with two experienced parents who can offer both firm boundaries and warmth. He would benefit from being the only or youngest child in the home in order to receive the attention and care he needs. A rural area would be ideal, as well. His family should be prepared to continue services that help Lukas, and to create a home where he feels safe to talk about what’s on his mind. Lukas wants a place where he can feel understood and accepted. A place where his love of the Lion King, his curiosity, and his caring heart are seen as strengths, and where he can keep learning what it means to be part of a family who stands by him no matter what.
