About the Siblings
Hawaii captivates Angelo’s imagination as well as awakens his appetite. It’s the one place on the planet that he most wants to visit. “I want to go there because of the beautiful bodies of water and the beaches,” he says. If you ask Angelo his favorite food, he’ll say Hawaiian pizza. But truth be told, Angelo likely would travel to almost any new destination. As one of his close adults explains, “Angelo is quite the inquisitive teen who’s interested in learning the world and gaining exposure to all facets of the world.” He likes to capture his feelings, thoughts and experiences by writing in a journal, which is his favorite after-school activity. Angelo likes drawing and playing action video games. He also hopes to participate in activities at school. “I would like to join a sports team and a cheerleading squad,” Angelo says. He takes the most pride in his ability at sports such as tennis and hockey. On the weekends, Angelo likes sinking into a comfortable chair while watching TV. He’s also a fan of cats, the color blue and science class at school. His favorite holidays are Christmas – “I like to open gifts and decorate” – and Halloween – “I like to decorate, wear a costume and trick or treat for candy.” Angelo’s wishes include having superpowers, having “tons of money” and “living will all my siblings.” When he’s asked about a future career, Angelo says he wants to become a bioengineer, and when he’s asked about a future family, he says he wants a loving one who enjoys fun things such as taking road trips together.
“I love sports,” says Caleb when asked the most important thing he wants others to know about him. Others who know him agree, especially when it comes to a certain professional football team. “Caleb might be the number one fan of the Detroit Lions,” says one of his close adults. “He loves football and games that require him to use his imagination. He has lots of energy so he enjoys things that allow him to release his energy like playing soccer.” Caleb enjoys building things with Legos and watching movies and TV shows. But his biggest joy comes from being outside and doing things such as playing basketball and going to the park. Being outdoors is Caleb’s favorite weekend and after-school activity. His other favorite things include green for color, monkeys for animals and cheese pizza and mac ’n cheese for food. Caleb says he wants to become a culinary artist when he gets older. When he’s asked what he takes the most pride in, Caleb says “my spirit.” It’s the kind of spirit that any family would enjoy having around the house. Caleb says he looks forward to going places and playing board games with his new family.
One of her close adults says Gabby, as Gabrielle prefers, “likes to put the world on pause.” That way, she can enjoy reading or going online in search of things that’ll make her laugh. She’s a seize-the-day kind of girl, or as Gabby puts it “enjoy the moment,” especially when spending time with friends. Gabby enjoys talking with her friends on weekends along with “being outdoors, and just finding things to do around home or going out with my family.” One of her close adults adds, “She enjoys family game time and considers herself the Queen of Uno.” Gabby exercises her creative mind by singing, dancing and drawing. Her other favorite things include cats, the color purple and Chinese foods, particularly fried rice. Gabby enjoys participating in gymnastics at school and playing basketball. Her favorite holiday is Christmas because she likes “to wake up to love and gifts.” When she gets older, Gabby wants to become a model and actress, which are goals that she can accomplish because of her drive and desire. “Gabby is a very hard worker with unmatched determination; she refuses to give up when trying to acquire a new talent or skill,” says one of her close adults. If she had three wishes, Gabby would want “to have things my way, to be smarter and to be successful.” Of course, she wishes for a new family, too, one who’ll encourage participation in extracurricular activities. Gabby also wants one who shares her love of modeling.
“Angelo is described as a songbird who likes to embrace those around him with reciting the chorus of his favorite songs,” says a close adult. “Angelo is described as a laidback, simple kid who tries not to be a bother. He is somewhat of a people pleaser. Angelo is super upbeat and funny, and he likes to make others smile and laugh.”
According to one of his close adults, “Caleb is the personification of a sweetheart. He wakes every morning with joy in his heart, and he creates opportunities to share it with the ones he loves. He is very giving of love, hugs and encouragement. He has the heart to show compassion, coupled with the will to be strong and succeed. He is incredibly intelligent and a fast learner.”
“Gabby has a very outgoing personality,” says one of her close adults. “She loves to meet new people and enjoys the diversity among people and experiences. She has a warm heart and takes delight in making others feel welcome and accepted. In school, she is a known leader and prides herself on showing others what it takes to be kind. At home, she enjoys helping with chores and dinner. She has a heart of gold but is strong enough to advocate for what she believes is right.”
A family should be willing to adopt Angelo, Gabrielle and Caleb together. They would do best with one or two parents who are experienced and trauma informed. Their new parent or parents should be patient and understanding as Angelo, Gabrielle and Caleb transition into their new home. Their new family must be strong advocates for the services that will help Angelo, Gabrielle and Caleb be at their best. All three youth have stated a preference for a family who has pets.
