About Zackry
For Zackry, the alphabet likely starts with the wrong letter. The clue about his possible way of thinking comes in his answer to a question about his favorite animal, which is zebra “because it starts with ‘Z,’” he says. Zackry is still “A-OK” in plenty of ways. He likes munching on tacos because they’re his favorite food. He enjoys constructing things with building blocks and Legos. Zackry likes playing with toy trucks and Hot Wheels cars as well as coloring and solving puzzles. He enjoys basketball, bowling and going to the beach, particularly on weekends. Zackry’s favorite after-school activity involves playing with peers. His favorite colors are red and blue, and his favorite subjects in school are art and technology. “Zackry enjoys watching SpongeBob, ‘Paw Patrol’ and Elmo,” says one of his close adults. “He also enjoys watching football.” He says Christmas is his favorite holiday because it celebrates Jesus’ birth. When he’s asked what he wants to be when he gets older, Zackry says, “maybe a firefighter,” and when he’s asked what he takes the most pride in, he doesn’t have an answer, but one of his close adults does. “I am most proud of his resilience and always wanting to keep going without giving up.” In other words, he’ll make his new family equally proud.
“Zackry is very social and likes interacting with others,” says one of his close adults. “Zackry likes learning facts and teaching others about what he has learned. Zackry is a very kind, smart and active boy who’s outgoing, funny and independent.”
Zackry would do best with one or two parents who can advocate for the services he needs to be at his best. One of his close adults adds, “If Zackry were placed in a single parent home, it is recommended that the single parent have a strong support system.” His new parent or parents should be experienced and trauma informed. Zackry would do best in a family in which he’s the only or youngest child.
