About Ja'Maiyis
Ja’Maiyis hasn’t got time to dwell on the past because her future is full of dreams and aspirations. Those aspirations include becoming a cardiac surgeon when she gets older. Ja’Maiyis dreams about traveling overseas. “I want to go to Europe because it’s fun and it has Paris,” she says. If one of her big wishes comes true, Ja’Maiyis says she “would be known for doing something good.” In the shorter term, Ja’Maiyis focuses on her athleticism. She enjoys sports after school and participates in volleyball, track and cross country. She also wants to get into dancing. Some of her favorite activities are going shopping, going to the mall and spending time outdoors. On the weekends, she likes playing sports and spending time with her sisters. Ja’Maiyis says Christmas and thanksgiving are her favorite holidays which she enjoys celebrating by eating well. Ja’Maiyis’ favorite food is lasagna. Her favorite colors are red and black, and her favorite critters are elephants. Even though her future is packed with jobs and journeys, Ja’Maiyis still plans to make time for a forever family, and she looks forward to having family game and movie nights together.
“Ja’Maiyis is friendly, smart, kind and funny,” says one of her close adults. “She is easy to talk to and is outgoing. Ja’Maiyis has a good sense of humor, makes friends easily and enjoys social interactions. Ja’Maiyis is very determined as well, and if she sets her mind to something, it will get done.”
Ja’Maiyis' new parent or parents need to be fierce advocates for the services that will help her flourish. Her new parent or parents should be experienced and trauma informed. Finally, Ja'Maiyis' new forever family must be open to letting her maintain her sibling relationships.
