About Mercy
That old saying, “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” applies to Mercy, who loves doing makeup, hair and nails. When she’s an adult, she wants to become a cosmetologist. “She wants to go to cosmetology school and open her own business,” says one of her close adults. “Mercy's ability to engage in a lighthearted conversation will be a great asset in her career choice.” One of Mercy’s favorite activities involves watching TV shows so she can learn new makeup tricks and hairstyles. Mercy prides herself on her makeup ability. She also takes pride in her cleanup and cooking skills and adds that she’s a good singer. Mercy giggles at dumb jokes, sleeps in on weekends, participates in choir and listens to country music. She dreams of visiting Nashville to experience the music scene and traveling to the Caribbean because “it is beautiful.” Mercy enjoys celebrating the major holidays by doing just about anything. She says she likes spending time with friends by “hanging out and doing nothing.” Mercy’s list of favorite things includes mac ’n cheese for food, burgundy for color and horses, dogs, cats and geckos for animal. If she had three wishes, Mercy would want “a perfect job,” “a family for my siblings” and “a forever family for myself.” When she’s asked what she wants to do with her new family, Mercy simply says, “anything.”
“Mercy is giving and generous,” says one of the adults who cares about her most. “She notices needs, and she wants to help meet the need. Mercy responds to verbal affection and loves a warm hug. She cares deeply for her siblings and enjoys being in the company of friends.”
Mercy would do best with a single female parent or two female parents who are experienced and trauma informed, but all family structures will be considered. Mercy prefers to be the only child in the home, but could do well with other children depending on the family structure. Her forever family must be fierce advocates for any services Mercy needs. She also needs a family who will be open to letting her explore who she is and support her no matter what. A family who can provide structure and consistency would be a good fit for Mercy. Her new family also needs to be open to letting Mercy maintain her sibling relationships.
