About KeyShaun

KeyShaun lights up when he's exploring the world around him. Whether he's checking out a Jeep in a parking lot, helping in the kitchen, searching for bugs, or splashing in the water, he approaches new experiences with genuine curiosity and excitement. He especially enjoys camping, swimming, cooking, fishing, playing games, and watching Spider-Man. Cars are another favorite interest, particularly Jeeps and remote-control cars, and he dreams of becoming a mechanic one day. KeyShaun also enjoys dressing up in suits, participating in Special Olympics, and spending time with others. If he could have three wishes, they would be to have a forever family, own a Jeep, and meet Spider-Man.

Those who know KeyShaun describe him as loving, affectionate, funny, and kind. He has a contagious smile, enjoys making others laugh, and is happiest when he's included in whatever the group is doing. After school, he likes to relax with a snack and watch TV before heading out for more adventures. He's proud when he accomplishes a task on his own and enjoys helping around the house by keeping his room tidy and learning new skills like doing laundry. More than anything, KeyShaun craves connection and loves spending time with the people who care about him.

KeyShaun does best with patience, routine, and gentle guidance. His curiosity can make it difficult for him to stay focused for long periods, and because of language deprivation, he is not always able to express his thoughts or feelings clearly. He benefits from adults who understand that his behaviors are rooted in his past experiences and who can provide consistent support while celebrating his progress. His future family should be prepared to advocate for his educational, developmental, and emotional needs while encouraging his growing independence.

KeyShaun would thrive with two experienced, trauma-informed parents who either already use American Sign Language or are fully committed to becoming fluent and embracing his culture. A family that understands informed parenting strategies and is willing to access supportive services as needed will help him continue to flourish. A family with cultural similarities would be beneficial for him. He would do best as an only child or with much older siblings who can be patient and supportive. KeyShaun would love a home with pets, especially dogs or bearded dragons, and he looks forward to sharing holidays, camping trips, family game nights, and plenty of bear hugs with the family he has been waiting for.
