About Malachi

Malachi is a bright, affectionate young person who deeply values connection and belonging. He thrives when he feels like an important part of a family and genuinely enjoys spending quality time with others. Over the past year, Malachi has embraced a growing sense of maturity and is learning to advocate for himself more effectively — a meaningful step in his personal growth.

Malachi is incredibly resilient and has made noticeable progress in areas such as impulse control and respecting others' boundaries. He is learning to take responsibility for his actions, even when it’s difficult, and benefits from supportive guidance in moments of reflection. With gentle reassurance that he is valued beyond his choices or behaviors, Malachi demonstrates a willingness to grow and learn from his mistakes.

Malachi finds joy in being active and involved with others. He especially enjoys basketball (and has real talent!), building with Legos, watching TV, and exploring the world of Pokémon. He is also open to trying new things, especially when encouraged by someone he trusts. His recruiter believes there are many hidden interests and talents yet to be discovered, and that with the right support, Malachi will continue to blossom.

Malachi has incredible potential and deserves a family who will see him for who he truly is — an affectionate, hopeful, and resilient young person with a big heart. He will thrive in a calm, nurturing home where adults can model emotional regulation, communicate openly, and offer consistent, trauma-informed support. He needs caregivers who understand that his behaviors are not personal, but rather expressions of past hurt and fear.

Above all, Malachi needs to know he is loved unconditionally. A family that can reassure him — especially during challenging moments — that he is safe, wanted, and not alone will help him continue building trust and healing. When Malachi feels secure and not judged, he is capable of honest, reflective conversations about his behavior and feelings. With the right support, he will continue to grow into the remarkable young person he is meant to be.

At his core, Malachi wants what every child deserves: to give and receive love in a safe, supportive family. His warmth, determination, and desire for connection are among his most valuable qualities.

Athens County Children Services has permanent custody of Malachi. Subsidies may be available. Please submit your homestudy and Child Characteristics Checklist to: Tanja.Kuhre@jfs.ohio.gov.
