About Sevonia
Rose Kennedy once said "Life isn't a matter of milestones, but of moments." That is a motto that Sevonia can get behind. “I like to make every moment matter,” she says, “and I like to make people laugh.” Sevonia is a personable girl who is sure to bring joy to many, many moments for a forever family. "Sevonia is a lovely young lady who cares deeply about those she cares about and has a heart of gold," says an adult who knows Sevonia well. "She has ambitions for herself to have a better life. She is sweet and caring." Sevonia definitely does have ambitions. She looks forward to a future career using some of her creative talents -- either a nail artist, a makeup artist, or a photographer. She hopes to travel to Africa one day to "see the culture and how others live." Perhaps her biggest ambition is to have a forever family. A family that will help her build on her strengths and develop independent living skills so she can live up to her full potential. A family that will love her unconditionally and stick with her as she grows up. And, in the meantime, a family that will play games, go on road trips, and just spend time together. If they have a dog and Sevonia can have her own room and a cell phone... well, that would just tick all the boxes for Sevonia!
Sevonia is described as a shy but friendly teen. She says she enjoys math class the most in school; with proper supports and the effort that Sevonia puts in, she has made a lot of positive progress. Sevonia states that she is very organized and that wonderful quality can be seen in the strides she has made. As important as school is, nothing is more important to Sevonia than the relationships she has with others. When asked what she is most proud of, Sevonia says "I am very protective of people I care about."
Sevonia's new family must be patient and give Sevonia time to build trust and a bond. She would do best with a mom and dad or two moms. A single female parent with a strong support network could also be appropriate. Her new parent or parents should be experienced, trauma informed and able to make sure she gets the services that will benefit her now and into the future. Her forever family must be supportive of her connections with those who are important to her.
