About Joshua
You can't describe Joshua much better than this: "Joshua has an awesome personality, he is happy, thoughtful, smart, inquisitive, and kind." That's what one of his important adults has to say about him and we agree! Joshua tries hard to make good choices and he likes to be helpful. With his generally happy and welcoming demeanor, it's no wonder that there are lots of wonderful things to say about him. Joshua is also outgoing -- as in he literally like to be going outside to play and be active whenever he can. He even enjoys searching for bugs! When it's too rainy or cold, however, Joshua can keep himself entertained with Legos - one of his favorite activities.
Joshua enjoys school and learning. He particularly likes to read and enjoys getting new books so he can work on his reading skills. He says that Art is his favorite subject and is quick to add that Math definitely is not a favorite. His teachers report that he is doing well in school. Joshua can be a really good listener and tries his hardest both at school and at home. He thrives most when given very clear requests and when his days are very structured.
Joshua would do best with a very experienced single parent or two parents who are experienced and trauma informed. All families will be considered, but Joshua does respond very well to father figures. When asked where he would like his new family to live, Joshua replied "It doesn't matter where they live, I just want to have a forever family." However, it would benefit him to be in a community that has services in and out of school that would benefit him. His new parent or parents must be must be fierce advocates for those services that will help Joshua function at his best.
