About Imani
Imani gives new meaning to getting “all dolled up” since she’s a Barbie doll fanatic. Her favorite toy? Barbie. Her favorite thing to do with friends? Play with Barbie dolls. Her worker describes Imani as “a social butterfly who’s sweet, kind-hearted and quiet until she is comfortable.” Then she might let loose with a cheer because Imani wants to cheerlead for sports teams one day. Her favorite things to do include dancing and listening to music. Imani is a creative girl who likes drawing, coloring and making arts and crafts. She’s a fun-loving young lady who also enjoys doing makeup, going out to eat and going to the movies. If she could visit anywhere, Imani would travel to Disney World because she’s never been there. “There are a lot of fun things to do, and I can see all the Disney characters,” Imani says. One of her favorite things to do involves learning new things, which she can do with a future forever family. She adds that just wants a family who’s loving, patient, caring and calm. Most of all she hopes they love having fun together.
“Imani is a leader at heart,” says one of her close adults. “She is very sweet and affectionate. Imani can be silly, and she enjoys laughing and joking. Imani is a caretaker who is going to do what is necessary to help her fellow peer. She is protective and helpful. When Imani feels like she has something to look forward to, she can be very optimistic.”
Imani would do well with one or two parents who can provide structure and one-on-one attention. Her new parent or parents would benefit from knowledge of the impact of trauma on a child. Imani’s new forever family must be strong advocates for the services that will help her function at her best. Finally, the family must be open to letting Imani maintain her sibling relationships.
