Nicole is a bubbly 17 year old young lady with blonde hair and blue eyes. Nicole has many interests, some of which include shopping for clothes, swimming, hiking, doing ropes courses, camping, watching movies, playing sports like baseball, learning to drive, and taking care of animals. Nicole thrives on being active and enjoys volunteering. She is friendly and engaging and enjoys one-on-one time with adults. Nicole is very organized and enjoys organizing things. As a child who hasn’t had much control in her life, Nicole likes to take control whenever she has the opportunity. She is doing very well in her current placement. Nicole is well liked by staff and peers, tries to stay clear of drama created by other youth, and exhibits appropriate behavior, which affords her the opportunity to participate in many recreational activities and events. Nicole enjoys going out to eat and likes most foods with the exception of spicy foods. Pickles are a favorite! She worries that she won’t find a family, as she has had many adults in her life who have let her down and not been appropriate parents to her.
Nicole is in the 10th grade and receives special education services through an IEP. She struggles with reasoning and processing information. Her favorite subject is History. Nicole participates in Color Guard at school and Leaders’ Group at the local YMCA. Nicole desires to go to college and vacillates between wanting to be a therapist, a nurse, or a police officer, as she enjoys helping people.
Nicole would like an active family of any race that doesn’t swear, argue, or yell a lot. She would like a two-parent family, which could consist of a mom and a dad, two moms, or two dads. Her team believes she could also do very well with a single mom. Nicole would prefer to live in a city environment, as that is what she is used to. Nicole likes animals and is interested in having pets. Having a preference for her own bedroom, Nicole would like to join a family with older or no siblings. Most important to Nicole is that her new family support her need for a slow transition and allow things to progress at Nicole's pace. She will need time to develop trust.
Nicole’s younger brother, who has been adopted by a family living in another state, is never far from her mind. The two share a strong bond. It is very important to Nicole that this connection be maintained. She enjoys spending time with her brother and his family and would like to have the opportunity to continue to do so.
