Marissa is a pretty young lady, who loves to dress up and do her hair and nails. She has dark brown hair though recently dyed it blonde and brown eyes. She is in the 8th grade and enjoys school. Marissa loves to sing and dance and is very good at doing choreography, making up dance moves to songs. She has a great memory and can memorize the lyrics of most songs. She loves to read and enjoys movies. She loves to read teen magazines and see what is going on in the entertainment industry. She enjoys going to church and would be good with a family where the church has an active youth group. She enjoys attending the youth group for teens run by DHHS. Marissa enjoys sliding, swimming and playing card or board games. She loves 1-1 attention. She is very verbal and talkative.
Marissa entered care in 2006 and parental rights were terminated in 2009. She and been in and out of foster and group homes. She would like to be with a family who would stay committed to her. We would like to have a family who would work with the group home staff to help transition her into their home. It is expected that she will need to work with a team when she is placed with a family and that the family be involved in her therapy with perhaps in home supports.
She does remain in contact with a prior foster family that would be a good support for an adoptive family. They could provide respite and have her come to their home and take her out but are not able to have her live with them due to the other issues in their home. She is good with their younger children but can be mothering at times and needs to let the foster mother be the mother.
