Cherokee Nation Adoption Services

Cherokee Nation Indian Child Welfare (ICW) strives to place Indian children with Indian families. ICW provides adoption services for Cherokee children who cannot be cared for by their birth parents and who need and can benefit from new and permanent family ties established through legal adoption.

The Adoption Exchange is based in the Rocky Mountain region and provides the connection between families who adopt and children who wait. The Adoption Exchange currently has 5 localities in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Missouri, and Nevada, and presents photolistings of children from those states plus Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

Wednesday's Child

The Freddie Mac Foundation sponsored Wednesday's Child television feature is a program on the air in 6 U.S. cities that helps find adoptive families by featuring waiting children in weekly television spots. Cities are Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington D.C.
