November is National Adoption Month!
This year's campaign highlights the need for families for teens in foster care
October 31, 2016
Today there are more than 112,000 children in the US foster care system who are waiting for the love and stability that a safe, permanent family provides. Each year more than 20,000 of them will age out of care, putting them at greater risk of homelessness, underemployment, and health challenges throughout their lives.
This year National Adoption Month once again shines a spotlight on the critical need for families for older youth—especially teens ages 15–18 years old. Because we all need family—regardless of our age.

Our National Adoption Recruitment Campaign—built around the theme "You don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent”—promotes adoption from foster care and raises awareness of the children waiting to be adopted.
This year, the campaign’s public service announcements highlight the need for families for older youth. Read more about the adoption recruitment campaign.
